Don Pender
Assistant Federal Public Defender
Charlottesville Office

Don serves as an Assistant Federal Defender in the Charlottesville-Harrisonburg office, where he has continued to amass significant trial and appellate experience.  Prior to that, Don handled federal criminal cases in a different district within the Fourth Circuit.  In addition to his law practice, Don also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia School of Law.

Don is originally from a city in the Western District of Virginia.  After teaching high school in North Carolina for two years, he attended North Carolina Central University School of Law, where he was Editor-In-Chief of the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Law Review, Legal Writing Scholar, Senior Writing Fellow, and a Constitutional Law Research Assistant.  His first introduction to federal law was as an intern with a federal judge whom he greatly admires for his legal acumen, and for teaching Don to tie a bowtie.
