Erin came to the Federal Defender’s Office in 2016 after ten years at the Legal Aid Justice Center in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she represented immigrant workers enforcing wage and hour protections; prisoners challenging inadequate medical care; and consumers seeking protection from aggressive collection practices, among many others. At the Federal Public Defender’s Office, she primarily handles appeals and has litigated numerous cases at the Fourth Circuit, as well as handling cases involving retroactive amendments to the sentencing guidelines.
Erin graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law and clerked for the Honorable Norman K. Moon, United States District Judge for the Western District of Virginia. Prior to law school, she spent three years in the Peace Corps in Bolivia. She does some of her best thinking while running long distances very slowly.
