John joined the Federal Defenders in 2025. He has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Appalachian State University (Boone, NC) and over 10 years of experience in the human services field. Prior to joining the Federal Public Defender’s Office, John spent 3 years at the state level Public Defender’s Office in Richmond. Previous jobs include re-entry case manager, youth behavioral health counselor, and more.

Outside of work, John enjoys live music, baseball games, and history museums.
