Nikki Himebaugh is an Assistant Federal Public Defender for the Western District of Virginia, based in Abingdon. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville for her undergraduate studies, and a graduate of Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts.

She began her legal career in Florida, where she served as an Assistant Public Defender in Clearwater, Florida, before transitioning to private practice and representing clients in the Tampa and Sarasota, Florida communities. Nikki then returned to East Tennessee and served two terms on the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel in the Eastern District of Tennessee, Greeneville Division, as well as maintaining a criminal defense practice in State and Federal Courts in Eastern Tennessee.

Nikki has recently joined the Federal Public Defender’s Office, where she will continue to focus on the zealous defense of indigent persons charged with federal offenses in the Western District of Virginia.
